Local restaurant and winery Narbona offers tours and hands on experiences for wine lovers.

Finca Narbona – a National Historical Monument – together with a Chapel and the picturesque winery, are part of the oldest building in Uruguay, which still maintain their original outlines.

At Narbona Winery, outstanding cheeses are made, and organic fruits and vegetables are grown to accompany the finest wines in town. Guests enjoy tasting these excellent wines from the vineyards, produced with the best techniques and grapes.

Narbona also offers gastronomic experiences of unique flavours and images. Activities offered include:

• Winemaker for a day: Guided by the oenologist, guests sample from each of the tanks and barrels. Then, they will be provided a bottle and laboratory instruments to make their own blend, before designing a label unique to the wine they’ve created.
• Guided wine tasting in the cellar: Guided by the oenologist, guests learn the secrets of tannat, the famous grape in Uruguay. Not to be missed is Medio y Medio a mixture of dry white wine and sweet sparkling wine, very famous in Montevideo.
• Harvest in the vineyards: Participants learn how to select the best grapes to prepare exclusive and tasteful wines.
• Elaboration of grappa and brandy: Guests learn about making these two spirituous drinks, and make one according to their own taste as well. A highlight is a tasting of honey grappa.
• Picnic in the vineyards: A basket with the most delicious cheeses, home-made bread and wines from Finca Narbona accompany a relaxing experience.
