Four Seasons Hotel Denver announces the appointment of Afonso Cunha as new Hotel Manager

Cunha joins Denver team from Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler

Denver, Colorado, 2016-Aug-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Four Seasons Hotel Denver announces that Afonso Cunha has been named its new Hotel Manager. Cunha replaces Kris Kaminsky, who was promoted to General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Macao, Cotai Strip.

“Afonso will be an excellent addition to our innovative team,” says Thierry Kennel, the Hotel’s General Manager and Regional Vice President. “His ability to motivate employees and execute ideas quickly match our team’s enthusiasm in Denver.”

Formerly Resort Manager at the Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five-Diamond Four Seasons Resort and Residiences Whistler, Cunha brings nearly two decades of luxury hotel experience to Denver. His career began at Hotel do Chiado in Lisbon, Portugal, joining Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon soon thereafter. His resume is dotted with hotels in cities around the world, from Shanghai to Dallas and Maui. His first assignment in the United States was in 2006 at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas as Assistant Director of Rooms, and later, he was promoted to Director of Rooms. He held the same position at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea for nearly three years before being promoted to Resort Manager of Four Seasons in Whistler.

“I am excited to join this ‘best in class’ management group in Denver,” remarks Cunha. “Four Seasons Hotel Denver is well-known for being community-minded and forward thinking, especially with its food and beverage programming.”

A native of Lisbon, Portugal, Cunha holds two degrees in hotel management and economics, and a post-graduate degree in world economics from Université Toulouse Le Mirail in France. Speaking five languages, Cunha will be joined by his wife, Catarina, and three children.

“My family and I enjoy a very active lifestyle in sports and the great outdoors, so Colorado is an ideal home,” says Cunha. “Denver is a hot destination for upwardly mobile millennials, and it’s all for good reason. I look forward to helping keep our Hotel top of mind with this demographic and beyond.”
