Federal Aviation Administration Grants Over $3.3 Million for Zero Emission Vehicles at San José Mineta International Airport

SANTA CLARA, CA, 2023-Oct-08 — /Travel PR News/ — Representatives Ro Khanna (CA-17), Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced that the Federal Aviation Administration will distribute $3,334,533 to the San José Mineta International Airport for zero emission vehicles under the Airport Improvement Program. The representatives were joined by San José Mayor Matt Mahan and SJC Airport Director John Aitken in celebrating this funding:

“Investing in clean transportation allows us to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and achieve our climate goals. We applaud the Federal Aviation Administration for granting $3,334,533 to the San José Mineta International Airport, which will be used to obtain new electric buses. We thank SJC Airport Director John Aitken for his commitment to sustainability and serving our community in Santa Clara County,” said Reps. Khanna, Lofgren, Eshoo and Panetta.

“I want to thank our federal partners for their strategic investment which accelerates our efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030,” said Mayor Matt Mahan. “The work we do to reach our climate goals takes all of us and will benefit all of us for generations to come.”

“We sincerely appreciate our local congressional delegation’s continued advocacy for funding San José Mineta International Airport’s sustainability initiatives,” said John Aitken, SJC Airport Director. “With this grant, SJC plans to procure four electric buses in our ongoing efforts to replace our natural gas fleet in accordance with California’s transition to zero-emission vehicles in the coming years. It’s a great example of our elected leaders coming together to help drive sustainability and deliver long term benefits to our community.”
