Enterprise Holdings announced it hired more than 250 new employees in Nashville in 2013

Growth Strategy Part of Car Rental Company’s Local $21 Million Economic Impact

NASHVILLE, TENN., 2014-8-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Enterprise Holdings – which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-CarNational Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands – has hired more than 250 new employees in Nashville during the last year. The company also plans to add even more jobs, many of which will support the opening of as many as four new car rental locations in the next year.

“We strongly believe in hiring locally and investing locally, right where our employees and customers actually live and work,” said Darren Gottschalk, Vice President of Enterprise Holdings in Nashville. “With a growing team and new locations, we are better positioned to offer our customers greater convenience and vehicle selection, in addition to the service quality they’ve come to expect from our three car rental brands.”

With 40 locations already serving the greater Nashville area, the additional locations will enhance the well-established car rental network that Enterprise Holdings already operates in the high-growth Nashville area. The company’s annual economic impact in the region is significant – for example, Enterprise Holdings made the following key contributions during fiscal-year 2014:

  • $11 million in state and local tax revenues
  • $10 million spent with local body shops, dealerships and vehicle maintenance facilities
  • $300,000 raised by employees and matching Enterprise Holdings Foundation donations for the United Way’s local Middle Tennessee chapters
  • $75,000 in donations by the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to local charities, such as the Urban League, Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, Tennessee Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, Nashville Cares and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee

Only three years ago, Enterprise invested another $1.4 million to upgrade its facilities at Nashville Airport’s consolidated rental car facility. The renovation project was largely driven by anticipated growth resulting from Nashville’s new convention center, Music City Center.

Overall, Enterprise Holdings, through its regional subsidiaries, operates the largest fleet of vehicles in the world through a global network of more than 8,200 airport and neighborhood locations. Its annual revenues place it near the top of the travel industry, exceeding all other rental car companies and most airlines, cruise lines, hotels, tour operators and online travel agencies.

“I am pleased that Enterprise continues to invest in our community,” said Tennessee State House Representative Charles Sargent, whose district is home to the Tennessee Corporate offices of Enterprise Holdings and who also serves as the House Finance Committee Chairman. “We expect the improvements the company is making to its airport facility will continue to spur growth and create more jobs in the region.”

Sustainable practices

Enterprise Holdings’ hiring and purchasing numbers reflect the company’s overarching commitment to implementing sustainable practices throughout its businesses and supply chain. For example, Enterprise Holdings typically purchase more than $1 million from diverse suppliers based in the Nashville area. In addition, Enterprise operations throughout the region have reduced energy and water use by 9 percent and 20 percent respectively, with an objective of reducing the company’s overall energy use and related costs 20 percent by 2015.

This long-term, sustainable commitment to the region includes offering sustainable local transportation options, such as the six Enterprise CarShare locations in Nashville.

“These investments not only help us expand and improve our operations, but also make a positive difference,” Gottschalk said. “By creating jobs, providing sustainable transportation alternatives and stimulating growth through our business and philanthropic efforts, we’re not just serving our customers – we’re helping to strengthen Nashville’s business community and neighborhoods.”
