2012-10-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, is today celebrating the inaugural flight from Birmingham Airport to Belfast International Airport.
The new route will initially be a daily service, however from 29th October it will increase to two flights a day on weekdays, and one on weekends. It will mainly serve the region’s business passengers by providing flexible access to Belfast but it will also offer more choice for leisure passengers seeking cost-effective flights to Northern Ireland.
Today’s launch between Birmingham and Belfast reinforces easyJet’s commitment to the Midlands by operating all-year-round flights from Birmingham Airport for the first time.
easyJet’s pledge is to make travel easy and affordable, and this new route will help boost business and leisure travel between the two cities.
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Commercial Manager said:
“We’re excited to be celebrating easyJet’s first year-round route from Birmingham. The move marks easyJet’s commitment to strengthening its network across the UK with a particular focus on supporting business passengers. Our schedule, with flights operating at peak morning and evening times, also reflects our continued focus on meeting the needs of business travellers, as well as offering leisure travellers affordable access to Northern Ireland.
“We are confident this new route will be a popular addition for passengers in the Midlands, and it will also provide inbound tourism for Birmingham from Northern Ireland’s capital city, benefitting the local economy and driving more footfall to England’s second city.”
Martyn Lloyd, Commercial Director at Birmingham Airport added:
“We’re delighted to see easyJet expanding from Birmingham and adding Belfast International to its schedule. This new service will provide greater flexibility for business and leisure passengers in the Midlands region wanting to reach this popular destination”
Fares from Birmingham to Belfast International start from £27.49 (one-way, including taxes based on a minimum of two people travelling on the same booking). For more information or to book flights please visit www.easyJet.com
