dnata secures new license to offer in-flight catering services at Vancouver International Airport

New catering partner to help YVR meet record passenger growth

Richmond, B.C., 2018-Feb-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Vancouver Airport Authority is pleased to announce that, after a global search and competitive application process, dnata Catering Services Ltd. (dnata) has been awarded a new license to offer in-flight catering services at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The addition of dnata will ensure YVR continues to meet growth demands while providing a diverse and high-quality range of in-flight catering options to airlines and passengers.

“I am pleased to welcome dnata to the YVR family,” said Craig Richmond, President & CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority. “As a world class hub airport, YVR has continued to grow and this has created strong demand for additional high-quality, in-flight catering. We were impressed with dnata’s strong application, including their commitment to safety and sustainability, and I look forward to our future partnership.”

YVR identified the need for an additional in-flight catering company after conducting a broad assessment of the current market conditions related to in-flight catering operations in 2017.  The application process included a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) to gauge global interest, followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP)—posted on yvr.ca and sent to interested proponents.

Robin Padgett, Divisional Senior Vice President of dnata’s global catering division, said Canada had long been an exciting opportunity for dnata. “To have Vancouver International Airport as our first airport partner in Canada is particularly exciting, given the airport’s impressive passenger growth, industry and passenger recognition and its bold expansion plans. We pride ourselves on our delivery of authentic and diverse cuisine across the globe and we’re excited to be bringing that to Vancouver.”

In addition to dnata, there are two other full-service, in-flight caterers serving airlines and other customers at YVR.
