Condor launches its direct flights between Frankfurt and Cape Town International Airport

Sunday 4 November 2012 marks the inaugural flight for Condor Airline from German to Cape Town

2012-11-06 — /travelprnews.com/ —  Condor leaves Frankfurt on a Tuesday and a Saturday evening and arrives in Cape Town on a Wednesday morning and Sunday morning. The airline will be utilising a Boeing 767-300 type aircraft.

“This is the first international airline to join the Cape Town International Airport family for this year following Air France and Edelweiss Air who launched direct flights to Cape Town at the end of 2011,” said Deidre Davids, Communications Manager: Cape Town International Airport. “November traditionally marks the beginning of our peak season. As such it is very apt to welcome Condor Airlines this time of year, “added Davids.

The airport also welcomes back its seasonal airlines, Lufthansa Airline who connects Cape Town directly to Munich, Germany. Other seasonal airlines resuming flights are Virgin Atlantic flying directly to London, Heathrow airport, Air France which connects the City directly to Paris and Edelweiss airlines which flies to Zurich. British Airways has also resumed its second daily flight to London, Heathrow airport and Emirates airline which flies directly to Dubai will resume its second flight on the 2 December 2012. The airport will also be welcoming back Air Mauritius which will operate three weekly flights.

“As a destination Cape Town is well known for its busy summer season and its quieter winter months and the movement through the airport is no different. Last year the peak season was especially busy and so it will be interesting to see what the passenger numbers will look like this season given the current economic climate. Like many of our partners in the tourism value chain, we remain conservatively optimistic that we will see an increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year. As always we put a host of operational plans in place in order to ensure a hassle free trip through the airport,” concluded Deidre.

Cape Town International Airport and its airport stakeholders take this opportunity to welcome Condor Airline to Cape Town.  We look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship
