CLEAR Registered Traveler Program is a New Option for Passengers to Reduce Waits at Security Checkpoints
Washington, D.C., 2016-Jul-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Passengers now have an additional option for speedier passage through security screening lines atReagan National and Dulles International airports with the launch of the CLEAR registered traveler program. New kiosks stationed at security checkpoints at each airport verify enrolled passengers’ identity using biometric technology to expedite the traditional document check and advance directly into the screening area. Enrollment is fast and easy in airport terminals and at other CLEAR locations.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority contracted with CLEAR to add this new option for travelers. “As part of our pledge to passengers, the Airports Authority is always looking for ways to improve customer service, convenience and innovation,” said Margaret McKeough, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “The expansion of CLEAR to Reagan National and Dulles International can help passengers move efficiently through security checkpoints using cutting-edge technology and personalized service.”
Airport enrollment kiosks at Reagan National and Dulles International are being activated near security checkpoint entrances, and the sign-up process takes just a few minutes. Once enrolled, CLEAR can be used immediately. Consult clearme.com for complete enrollment requirements.
CLEAR members use kiosks in dedicated security lanes to scan their boarding pass and provide a fingerprint or iris scan to instantly verify their identity. Kiosks at Reagan National have been activated at the Gates 10-22 checkpoint (Alaska, Delta and United), with other checkpoints available in the coming days. Kiosks at Dulles International are located alongside the Pre-Check checkpoint (all airlines) in the center of the Main Terminal departures level. From the kiosk, customers will be escorted directly into the checkpoint by a CLEAR representative, for additional time savings. Customers who are also enrolled in TSA Pre-Check will have the added benefit of directly entering the Pre-Check screening area after CLEAR identity verification.
With the addition of CLEAR, there are several options for passengers to experience reduced security wait times at Reagan National and Dulles International:
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority operates Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, the Dulles Airport Access Highway and the Dulles Toll Road and also manages construction of the Silver Line project, a 23-mile extension of the Washington region’s Metrorail public transit system through Fairfax County and into Loudoun County, Virginia. More than 44 million passengers a year pass through the two airports. The Airports Authority generates more than 387,000 jobs in the National Capital Region.
