Chicago’s Airports Participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

HICAGO, 2012-10-2 — /travelprnews.com/ — For the fifth consecutive year, the Chicago Department of Aviation(CDA) is “going pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by participating in the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation’s “2012 Light the Way to Find a Cure” campaign.

The CDA will show is support by displaying pink lights, ribbons and other decorations at O’Hare and Midway International Airports during the month of October.

“On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago, we are proud to join the rest of the City in highlighting this major health issue that affects so many women. men and their families,” said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “We hope that our participation will raise awareness about breast cancer research for the millions of visitors and employees at O’Hare and Midway.

Twelve-foot lighted pink bows are affixed to the main entrance and exit signs at O’Hare, as well as on each pedestrian bridge over the roadway between the Airport Transit System (ATS) and Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. The CDA Operations Tower and airport landscaping are lit with pink lights.

At Midway, the Cicero Avenue Bridge heading north/southbound is decorated with pink ribbons. More than 100 pink ribbons are placed in planters along the terminal roadway and in the terminal itself, along with pink lighting in some areas of the terminal.

“Light the Way to Find a Cure” posters are also on display in the domestic and international terminals.
