(PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG, 2025-May-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Cathay Pacific has introduced an innovative enhancement to its baggage recovery process, offering customers a more efficient and secure way to track missing or delayed luggage. With the new feature, travelers can now privately share the location of their Apple AirTags or Find My network accessories with Cathay Pacific, aiding the airline’s baggage service teams in quickly locating and returning lost items.

Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Airport Service Delivery, Cheuk Lo, commented, “At Cathay Pacific, we are constantly seeking ways to enhance our customer experience. The integration of Apple’s Share Item Location feature is a transformative addition to our baggage recovery process. It enables both our passengers and airport teams to work together seamlessly, leveraging new technology to deliver quicker, more effective baggage recovery, giving customers added peace of mind when their bag is misplaced.”

The process for using the new feature is straightforward: Customers first generate a Share Item Location link through the Find My app on their Apple device and send it via email to the baggage services team at their arrival airport. This link is then added to the customer’s baggage file, enabling airport teams to track the bag’s location and expedite the return process.

For privacy and security, location sharing will automatically end once the customer’s bag is returned, and the feature can be paused at any time. The location data will also expire after seven days. Built on Apple’s Find My network, which consists of over one billion Apple devices, the feature uses Bluetooth technology to securely detect nearby items and report their location back to the owner. The data transfer is encrypted end-to-end and anonymous, ensuring no third party, including Apple or other manufacturers of Find My network accessories, can access or view the location information.

To use the new feature, customers must ensure their Apple devices are running iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, or macOS 15.2 or later.
