Budapest Airport installed credit card readers in the pay machines located in its car parks

2013-07-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — In July, ahead of the summer peak season, Budapest Airport installed credit card readers in all of the pay machines located in its car parks at the airport. Customers can therefore pay for parking by credit card at all pay stations, in addition to the customer service offices. With this upgrade, long awaited by passengers and motorists, the airport operator becomes one of only a handful of service providers offering this option in the country.

It is now possible to use credit cards at all pay machines located in the car parks of Budapest Airport. The credit card terminals have been installed during the last few days in the airport car parks, appearing next to the cash slots in all 15 pay machines. The new option has become immediately available to motorists, with credit card payment remaining possible at the customer offices as well. Pay machines equipped with credit card terminals are quite rare in Hungary. As an international airport, however, Budapest Airport had to keep pace with international trends.Budapest Airport made its choice from the best technology available, whereby, in addition to accepting the most common credit and debit cards (MasterCard, VISA and soon American Express), contactless payment (PayPass, PayWave) is also possible. The introduction of credit card payment in the car parks is another important milestone in an ambitious development plan started last August, based on which Budapest Airport completely renewed its parking system. Parking services have become more transparent and more comfortable as a result of the new system, whilst road safety has also improved.

“We are delighted to finally launch this service in our car parks, which passengers have been waiting for so eagerly,” said Manel Moreno, head of kerbside services for Budapest Airport. “It is less than a year ago that we set out to completely renew parking at the airport, and the quality of service offered to motorists now meets international standards,” he added.
