Airport Authority receives Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award

SAN DIEGO – 2012-10-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has received the 19th Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2012 from the National Procurement Institute. This is the Airport Authority’s third consecutive time receiving the award.

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is designed to recognize organizational excellence in procurement. The award was achieved by obtaining a high score on a rating of standardized criteria. Elements measured include innovation, ethics, electronic commerce, productivity and leadership.

The national award is sponsored by several agencies, including the National Procurement Institute, the National Institute of Government Purchasing, the National Association of State Procurement Officials and the California Association of Public Procurement Officers.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our procurement process,” said Thella F. Bowens, President/CEO of  the Airport Authority. “It’s the foundation of how we do business in the community, and the fact that we have won this award three years in a row is a testament to how we continuously strive to improve our procedures.”

The Airport Authority scored in the top 15 percent of all 2012 winners, and is one of only 40 government agencies in California, and 1 of 29 special districts in the United States, to win this prestigious award.
