Airport Authority Hong Kong increases maternity leave for its female employees to 14 weeks

HONG KONG, 2018-Oct-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has announced yesterday the increase of maternity leave for its eligible female employees who are on permanent or fixed-term contracts to 14 weeks with full pay with immediate effect. Eligible female staff who are currently on maternity leave will also benefit from the extension.

The AA also provides five days of fully paid paternity leave for eligible male employees.

In recent years the AA has launched a series of family-friendly initiatives. These include the Airport Preschool, which opened at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in March 2017 and is the first corporate-affiliated facility in Hong Kong providing care and early education services for children aged three or below. Staff of all companies operating at the airport may apply for their eligible children for places at the Airport Preschool. A new campus for the Preschool is currently under construction, which is expected to provide approximately 100 spaces when it is completed in mid-2020.

The AA has also launched EXTRA MILE earlier this year, an HKIA community investment project that includes a pilot programme providing after-school care for primary school students in Tung Chung whose parents work at the airport. The programme offers tutorial services and activities for children, as well as parenting workshops to promote healthier family relationships.
