(PRESS RELEASE) MONTREAL, 2025-Apr-9 — /Travel PR News/ — Air Canada is proud to announce that it will be the launch customer for the Airbus Airspace cabin on the A220 family of aircraft, featuring all-new XL overhead bins that offer 15% more bag capacity. This cabin evolution, along with a redesigned ceiling and enhanced lighting, is set to improve passenger comfort and streamline boarding. The first aircraft equipped with these innovative bins are scheduled for delivery early in 2026.
The upgraded A220 Airspace cabin is part of Air Canada’s broader strategy to continually enhance in-flight comfort and convenience. This initiative is also being rolled out alongside additional cabin upgrades, including a refreshed interior design and updated seat-back entertainment systems. “The A220 has already become a favourite among our customers, and we’re thrilled to be the launch customer for the next cabin evolution on this Canadian-designed and assembled aircraft,” said John Moody, Managing Director, Onboard Product, at Air Canada. “Our new larger overhead bins will provide more space for your belongings, enable quicker boarding, and create an even better experience on board.”
Ingo Wuggetzer, Vice President of Cabin Marketing at Airbus, added, “We are extremely happy to launch the A220 Airspace cabin with Air Canada and are proud that the Canadian flag carrier is introducing our latest innovation as part of its fleet renewal programme. With this upgrade, we are delivering a fully consistent passenger experience across our platforms, providing widebody comfort on single-aisle aircraft.”
Air Canada currently operates 34 A220-300 aircraft manufactured in Mirabel, Quebec, and has 31 more on order. The enhanced cabin design further solidifies the A220’s reputation for superior passenger comfort with the widest seats and aisle in its class, and the largest cabin and windows among its peers.
