Dublin, Ireland, 2020-Nov-24 — /Travel PR News/ — The latest map published by the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) has classified Ireland and Canary Islands as ‘orange’. This classification means that someone returning from the Canary Islands to Ireland does not need to restrict their movements upon their return, having done a pre-departure test 3 days prior to travel.
This is a demonstration of the traffic-light system of travel functioning as it was intended and represents a positive step towards facilitating increased safe international travel, which is critical to the Irish economy.
Due to absence of demand, Aer Lingus is not currently operating flights to Canary Islands. However, from 27th December onwards, Aer Lingus has availability on flights to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife.
Should your travel plans change, or the Canary Islands colour classification change, Aer Lingus has a range of flexible booking options, including free changes on all fare types up to two hours before departure.*
Notes to the editor:
*a fare difference may apply
Aer Lingus ‘Book with Confidence’ allows for lots of new ways to keep your flights flexible in case plans change;

ECDC maps are published by ECDC every Thursday in support of the Council Recommendation on a coordinated approach to the restriction of free movement in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was adopted by EU Member States on 13 October 2020.
Testing Requirements
While noting that the Government has initially established a PCR testing solution as the standard, Aer Lingus believes that going forward tests should be based on a rapid and affordable testing solution. Aer Lingus supports a random rapid testing for passengers arriving from higher risk ‘orange’ coded countries or regions and pre-departure testing for countries or regions classified as ‘red’. Aer Lingus believes that a rapid antigen testing regime is the most appropriate standard in this regard.
