Aberdeen, Scotland, 2017-Jun-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Aberdeen Airport are delighted to announce that they were the recipient of two awards last week: the first, recognising their digital developments, and, the second, for their transport links with Stagecoach.
The airport were announced as the winner of the ‘Best B2C Business Project’ Award at the Big Chip Awards 2017 which was held in Manchester on Friday evening. The Big Chip Awards are the longest running digital awards in the UK and the largest outside of London; with the awards-evening being a must-attend event amongst digital and technology businesses across the country. The airport beat out finalist clients, including Creamfields 2017 and Argos, to win the Big Chip award.
The award was presented for the digital developments made on the airport website, which enabled passengers to use a ‘contextual travel timeline’ to keep them up to date with their flight. The timeline presents passengers with chronologically-ordered content that is contextually relevant to the passenger’s flight and physical location.
Jason Stewart, E-Commerce Manager for the airport commented: “We really listened to our passengers when we set-out to develop these changes on the airport website. The core focus of the project was one statement: passengers are not interested in a list of flights, but just one flight – their own. Working with our digital agency KMP Digitata we used this knowledge to create a truly unique and personalised user journey for every passenger that visits our website, and we are pleased to be presented with this award in recognition.”
The airport was also recognised at the Scottish Transport Awards last week, with Stagecoach’s Jet 727 bus-link winning in the ‘Best Bus Service’ category.
Carol Benzie, Managing Director of Aberdeen International Airport said: We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded Best B2C Business Project at this year’s Big Chip Awards. The award recognises the hard work and continued efforts we are making to improve our website and digital services. We are also thrilled to celebrate Stagecoach’s well-deserved win at the Scottish Transport Awards. The award-winning route to and from the airport has proven to be very popular with both visitors to the city and local travellers alike, and the frequency at peak times provides very easy access to the city centre.’
