Also in March, the first WIZZ flight took off between Budapest and Athens.
EuroAirport, the latest WIZZ destination is located in the heart of Western Europe at the crossroads of three countries: France, Germany and Switzerland, offering convenient access to the wine routes on Alsace, the scenic Freiburg and the Black Forest, or Basel, known for its banks as well as its art exhibitions.

Andras Rado, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air, said: “We are delighted to commence today our new WIZZ route between Budapest and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The continuous expansion of our network results not only in a growing number of destinations available from Budapest, but it also brings more and more low-fare opportunities for our Swiss, French and German travelers to reach one of Europe’s most attractive tourist destinations, the Hungarian capital.”
István Nagy, Ambassador of Hungary to the Swiss Confederation, said: “As Ambassador of Hungary to the Swiss Confederation I am delighted to see a creation of a new air travel link between Hungary and Switzerland. One of our main objectives with my colleagues as diplomats based in Switzerland is to strengthen the economic, cultural and social relations between our two countries. I am very glad that today we can witness this new chapter of Wizz Air, as it will most definitely facilitate reaching our goal which is to increase both business and holiday visits to and from Hungary and Switzerland.”
