BUDAPEST, 2014-6-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe*, today celebrates the 10 year anniversary of its very first flights from Budapest, back in June 24th 2004. This is an important milestone for the airline that was established by 6 local aviation professionals in Hungary with the ambition of making flying more affordable to the citizens of CEE.

Since then, Wizz Air has achieved strong and consistent growth in the country. Wizz Air now offers 37 low cost services from 2 Hungarian airports to 20 different countries which underlines its commitment to offer low fares, stimulate tourism and support aviation jobs in Hungary.

On the day of its 10th anniversary, Wizz Air announced that its new maintenance hangar will be built at Budapest Airport. The hangar is scheduled to be opened in September 2015 and will help create over 70 additional jobs for skilled engineers.

To mark this special occasion, Wizz Air is slashing 20% off fares on all Hungarian routes for bookings made today, 24 June until midnight – so passengers booking low-fare flights to any of the 35 destinations available in Wizz Air’s Hungarian network can take advantage of this 20% discount.**

Wizz Air’s CEO Jόzsef Váradi, said: ”This is a memorable milestone for a company with its roots in Hungary and over 500 Hungarian staff. Over the past 10 years we have earned the trust and loyalty of our Hungarian passengers and we will continue to offer low fares and excellent service to them. The opening of our new hangar, planned for 2015, will create more highly qualified aviation jobs in the country and retain talent for Hungarian aviation.”

Budapest Airport’s CEO Jost Lammers, said: “We are very proud of having Wizz Air as our airline partner at Budapest Airport and we highly value the airline’s growth potential in the Hungarian market. By signing the hangar-lease agreement today we have made yet another step to widen the presence of Wizz Air in Budapest who already have their office administration (HQ), the operations and crew center, simulator and training center at our airport. This investment shows our commitment to create growth and new job opportunities at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. The new hangar will provide an opportunity to make Wizz Air’s operations smoother and enable them to perform high quality service from line maintenance to full overhaul of aircraft in Budapest.”
