Macau Government Tourist Office Promotes 60th Macau Grand Prix in Seoul and Sydney

2013-05-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) is holding a week-long promotion in Seoul, Korea, and other special themed activities in Sydney, Australia, to promote the 60th Macau Grand Prix, along with the long history and excitement of Macau through its main signature event.

“2013 Experience Macau Festival” kicked off on Tuesday (May 21), and will run until May 28, at the Seoul IFC Mall with the 60th edition of the Macau Grand Prix taking the centre stage of the promotion. Korean Formula 3 driver Chewon Im was the guest star of the opening. Chewon Im, now based in Spain and racing at the European F3 Open championship, is interested in participating this year’s Macau Grand Prix in the FIA Formula 3 Intercontinental Cup. Other guests at the opening included the vice president of Korea Tourism Organization, James Rhee, the general-manager of Mode Tour, Kitae Kang, the general-manager of Air Macau Seoul Office Kevin Wang, MGTO Korea representative Lew Hwan-Kyu, among others.

Another “star” invited to make its appearance at the promotion in Korea is the Formula 3 car that the Spanish Daniel Juncadella drove to victory at the Macau Grand Prix in 2011 that traveled all the way from Macau to Seoul in cooperation with the Macau Grand Prix Committee. Visitors to the road show can also enjoy “racing” at a Mini Guia Circuit, as well “be a winner” of the Grand Prix, by taking photos holding a trophy. Information about Macau tourism and interactive media tools are also available to promote the city.

On Wednesday evening (May 22) MGTO launched another 60th Macau Grand Prix promotion, this time in Sydney. Two legendary Australian drivers who have raced at the Guia Circuit in the past, Kevin Bartlett and Vern Schuppan, participated at the kick off of a Grand Prix exhibition. The promotion stages three Australian-based Formula 3 cars surrounded by the memorabilia from Macau Grand Prix, such as photos and videos, along with tourism information about Macau, on display to public from May 23 until 26 at the Lower Exhibitions Hall at Sydney Town Hall, in the heart of the city.

Kevin Bartlett and Vern Schuppan have joined and spoken at the opening launch of the event, which included a cocktail-presentation about Macau and the Macau Grand Prix for travel trade and media, among other guests. Kevin Bartlett, who has been considered one of Australia’s greatest racing drivers, won the Macau Grand Prix in 1969. Vern Schuppan went on better than Bartlett to win the Macau Grand Prix twice, in 1974 and 1976.

MGTO organized the promotional activities in Seoul and Sydney, promoting the 60th Macau Grand Prix.  Through the grand event this year, MGTO hopes to attract visitors from the two places to visit Macau, striving to further diversify visitor source markets.
