2012-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — Traffic Figures: 2,202,293 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport during June 2012, a gain of 2.9% versus June 2011. The year to date passenger growth stands at +3.1%.
Traffic Figures
O&D or local passengers (originating or departing from Zurich) increased by 0.1% to 1,438,838 compared to previous June (YTD +2.5%). Transfer passengers increased by 8.5% to 753,886 in June (YTD +4.4%). The transfer rate which was at 32.6% last June is currently at 34.3% (YTD 34.8%). The current low cost carrier market share is at 10.8% (YTD 10.6%), showing a passenger decrease of 6.2% (YTD -0.3%) versus previous year.
Air traffic movements (ATM’s) decreased by 2.5% to 23,586 in June versus previous year (YTD -3.1%). The decrease divides into a decrease of 1.6% for airlines (YTD -1.8%) and a decrease of 7.2% for general aviation (YTD -9.9%). The average passenger per movement figure (airline passengers only) currently is at 110.1 (105.2 previous year) or 103.3 YTD (98.3 previous year). The average seat load factor saw an increase of 1.8 percentage points to 76.2% (YTD 72.5%).

Commercial Activities
Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during June was CHF 43.3m (+3.8% versus previous year). Turnover per departing passenger in June was CHF 39.4, which is 0.9 percent higher than last year. Year to date June, total turnover saw an increase of 6.8% to CHF 246.3m and turnover per departing passenger increased by 3.5 percent to CHF 41.7.

Updated Traffic Figures May 2012
The passenger figures for May 2012 had to be slightly adjusted. Whilst the gain of 1.2% of total passengers versus May 2011 remains unchanged, the split between transfer and local passengers had to be adjusted. Please find attached the updated Traffic Figures for May 2012 and May 2012 year to date.
