Wizz Air marks seven million passengers carried on its low-fare routes from Cluj-Napoca

Budapest, Hungary, 2017-Mar-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania’s largest airline, celebrated today seven million passengers carried on its low-fare routes from Cluj-Napoca. WIZZ’s lucky 7 millionth passenger was travelling on the first flight from Bratislava to Cluj and was greeted upon arrival with a WIZZ return ticket.

In 2017, Wizz Air is offering over 1.9 million seats on sale on Cluj routes with fares from only RON 39,99*. Along with the new routes to Bratislava, Malta, Stockholm and Larnaca, starting in March, Wizz Air is offering now 35 destinations to 17 countries from Cluj. Over the past decade, since WIZZ started to operate from Cluj-Napoca, the airline has continuously invested in its ever-growing network, bringing more travel opportunities and providing the lowest fares possible for its customers.

The six-aircraft base in Cluj-Napoca represents an investment of $ 588 million**, with almost 200 local WIZZ staff. In 2016, over 1.3 million passengers have enjoyed WIZZ’s low fares, easy booking system and excellent on-board service, to and from Cluj, supporting over 1,000 local jobs*** in aviation and tourism industry. Furthermore, WIZZ’s commitment to the Transylvania region is shown by its involvement in promoting an active lifestyle and mobility at the biggest international marathon in Transylvania, Wizz Air Cluj-Napoca Marathon that will be held on 9 April for the seventh occasion, but for the first time in WIZZ signature colors. Over 5,500 runners from 19 countries are expected to attend.

Already the largest airline in Romania, Wizz Air is offering now 133 routes to 20 countries across Europe from 10 Romanian airports. For 2017, 14 new routes to nine countries have been already announced in Romania, such as the popular destinations of Venice Treviso, Bologna and Rome from Suceava and to Cologne, Liverpool and Madrid from Craiova, all commencing in March. Over 730 Wizz Air colleagues currently work in Romania, looking forward to welcoming passengers on board of one of the 20 aircraft, including 5 of the ultra-efficient brand new 230-seater Airbus A321.
