Budapest, Hungary, 2016-Oct-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today celebrated with Olsztyn Mazury Airport the remarkable milestone of the airport’s 30,000 passengers. The 30,000th passenger arrived from London Luton with WIZZ’s popular UK service.
Wizz Air’s first flight took off from Szymany in June and since then, the airline carried over 15,000 passengers on its low-fare London Luton route becoming the leading airline at Olsztyn-Mazury Airport.
At the press conference held on the occasion of the memorable milestone, WIZZ announced that it will start operating a new route from Olsztyn Mazury Airport to Oslo Torp. The new service will commence on 20 May 2017 connecting Masuria with Norway with up to three* weekly flights. With the new route, Wizz Air will have nearly 87,000 seats on sale on its two Olsztyn-Mazury routes in 2017, representing a 220% growth year over year. Tickets are already on sale and can be booked from only 14.99EUR/59PLN**.
Wizz Air started operations from Poland in 2004 and since then the airline has continuously grown its low-fare network in Poland – currently offering 140 routes to 24 countries from eight Polish airports. WIZZ’s Polish operations not only provide affordable access at WIZZ’s lowest fares between Poland and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors. Nearly 800 Wizz Air colleagues currently work in Poland, looking forward to welcoming passengers on board WIZZ’s Polish flights, which this year will support more than 4500*** jobs in associated industries throughout the country.
Wizz Air has recently celebrated its 45 millionth Poland passenger, while over the past 12 months ending 30 September 2016 more than 6,7 million passengers flew with WIZZ to and from the country.
