- Brand’s New “Vacationauts” Campaign Implores Visitors to
- “Make Space a Part of Their Epic Florida Vacation”
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., 2016-Oct-05 — /Travel PR News/ — We Are Go Florida, Space Florida’s consumer-facing brand is launching the world’s first multi-media space tourism advertising campaign – Vacationauts. The “Vacationauts” campaign encourages those planning a Florida vacation to include viewing a rocket launch as part of their Florida vacation.
The Vacationauts outreach aims to spark a passion for space in travelers, while reminding them that Florida continues to be the epicenter for all things space tourism. Running across multiple channels including television, social media, digital ads, an informative website as well as an interactive We Are Go Vacationauts app, the campaign looks to build a community filled with space enthusiasts, trip planners, families and Florida-bound tourists.
The look of the Vacationaut campaign draws inspiration from science fiction icons, mid-century tourism imagery and modern technology. “We wanted to tap into space-race nostalgia while captivating a younger audience,” said Tom Merrick, Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Paradise, the ad agency that developed the campaign. “Actual space tourism is only a few short years from becoming a reality, so we wanted to lay the foundation for a community of space lovers with interactive games, quizzes and more.”
Filmed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, the Vacationauts campaign features a series of cable spots and online videos that spotlight a fictional “Vacation Commander.” He and his team at Vacation Control let potential visitors know that when you make space part of your visit to Florida, you’re more than just a vacationer. You’re aVacationaut.
The We Are Go Vacationauts App also features messages from the Vacation Commander and his staff. In addition, the app is home to interactive activities such as personality and educational quizzes, messaging and earnable badges, while also providing access to resources for trip planning, including details about upcoming launches. Within the app, users will find a compass that points in the direction of the next launch as well as up-to-date information on Florida attractions — space-related or otherwise.
Vacationauts can also find a home on the campaign’s social media channels Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @WeAreGoFL and through #WeAreGoFL and #Vacationauts. The brand’s social channels explore various local activities, rocket updates and countdowns, app tips and tricks, and serve as a place for Vacationauts to learn, connect and share their experiences.
“We’re confident the We Are Go Vacationauts campaign will captivate space enthusiasts and vacation planners alike,” said Frank DiBello, President of Space Florida. “We look forward to the public’s response and continuing to spread the message that Florida is, and will continue to be, the place for Space.”
