Vida wines available at the SkyCourt and the Heinemann Duty Free

2013-03-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — Budapest Airport, the Heinemann Duty Free and the Vida Family Wine Estate from the Szekszárd wine region in Hungary have embarked on a special wine promotion this spring. Vida wines are available for tasting and for purchase at the SkyCourt and the Heinemann Duty Free shop located in the transit area at Terminal 2A until Easter.

The aim of the joint promotion by Budapest Airport, the Heinemann Duty Free and the Vida Family Wine Estate is to offer passengers original, high-quality Hungarian products, in this case two types of wine from the Szekszárd region. This three-way cooperation proved very successful during earlier ‘Hungaricum’ promotions. Now the airport is showcasing two wines from one of the most famous wineries, the Vida Family Wine Estate, from the increasingly popular Szekszárd wine region. During the promotion, the 2011 Vida Merlot is available for 5.90 EUR and the 2011 Vida Öregtőkék Kadarka (Old Stock Kadarka) for 8.50 EUR per bottle. Besides these special offers, other premium Vida wines are also available at the Heinemann Duty Free, priced 20-30 EUR per bottle.

The Szekszárd wine region is increasingly attracting the attention of wine enthusiasts, and for good reason. During recent years it has produced high-quality wines that are able to compete with the previously predominant neighboring region of Villány. It was a milestone in this friendly rivalry when the Vida Family Wine Estate was named “winemaker of the year” in 2011, the most prestigious accolade in Hungarian viticulture.

“We are proud to host this special promotion in the SkyCourt, and to highlight traditional Hungarian products; this time, wine from the Szekszárd region,” said Alan Bork, director consumer for Budapest Airport. “Our earlier joint promotions proved to be outstandingly successful with passengers, as well as commercially. Budapest Airport is committed to promoting local products and creating special events, promotions and sales for passengers to make their journey through our SykCourt Terminal even more enjoyable,” he added.

“We have decided to launch this spring promotion based on our experience of last year’s success with Hungaricum products,” commented Fritz Janach, the managing director of Heinemann Duty Free at Budapest Airport. “It is quite symbolic that we have chosen two different wines from the Vida Family Wine Estate, a genuine “international” player in the form of Merlot, paired with the 100 % Hungarian variety of Kadarka. The latter is a genuine, traditional Hungarian wine which has been produced in the Szekszárd region for centuries. I wish this wine as much success in its re-birth in Hungary and on the international market as was the case in my homeland of Austria with the Grüner Veltliner,” he continued.

“We are delighted to embark on this joint project with Heinemann Duty Free and Budapest Airport,” emphasized Péter Vida junior on behalf of the Vida Family Wine Estate. “Firstly, this is an excellent opportunity to introduce our wines and our estate to Hungarian and foreign travelers, and secondly, passengers will leave Budapest with the memory of a pleasant taste still fresh in their minds. The “winemaker of the year” award bestowed on us in 2011 compels us to further develop and promote the fantastic heritage of the Szekszárd wine region. We hope that the Vida wines, which embody the love of life, will contribute to many family gatherings this Easter,” he added.
