• This Morning presenter passed bus driving test after training with Stagecoach
• Star backing campaign to attract more female bus drivers
Perth, Scotland, 2016-Mar-25 — /Travel PR News/ — TV personality Ferne McCann has successfully achieved her bus driving qualification after training with Stagecoach as part of a campaign to attract more female bus drivers.
The ITV This Morning presenter trained with the bus operator in London to gain her PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) licence which is required by all serving bus drivers.
The qualification requires trainees to undertake a medical, pass a theory test, complete around 30 hours of on-the-road training and pass a final examination carried out by an independent examiner.
Ferne, who has previously appeared on The Only Way is Essex and I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out Of Here, announced to her millions of social media followers that she had passed the final element – her practical examination.
The TV star’s training was carried out by Stagecoach London Driving Instructor Yvonne Wallin at the company’s West Ham depot in London.
Ferne McCann said: “I’m so proud of myself – I never thought in a million years that I would have the chance to even drive a bus and now I can say I’ve actually officially gained my bus driving licence.
“It’s been a fantastic experience and I’ve had a brilliant time getting to know Yvonne and the team at Stagecoach. I had no idea how much work goes into running buses. I take my hat off to the drivers I’ve met and I really hope my involvement has made more women think about bus driving as a career option.”
Stagecoach Driving Instructor Yvonne Wallin added: “Ferne has certainly been an interesting trainee to work with. Her personality has really lit up the whole depot and this campaign has got everyone talking which is exactly what we wanted. Hopefully it will help us attract more female bus drivers. Ferne has worked hard and fully deserves this qualification – I’m really proud of her and wish her the best of luck on her next challenge, whatever that might be.”
