Costa Rica – 2012-11-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — Coffee aficionados can put another hot destination on their map of places around the world to enjoy a fantastic cup of coffee and warm and friendly atmosphere to socialize with new and old friends.Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica recently opened a re-imagined Café Britt coffee house with new coffee and food menu and outdoor seating for 12 people.

The new Café Britt coffee house at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica is a partnership between gourmet coffee maker Café Britt, and the Resort with Café Britt providing the coffee and Four Seasonsproviding food served at the venue.

Guests can grab a quick cup of coffee to go on their way to adventures such as zip-lining or surfing, or sit down at the café to read the paper and chat with friends over a Costa Rican espresso or latte or a cold fantasy coffee beverage such as the Arenal or Heredia. The Arenal, named for one of Costa Rica’s most famous volcanoes located a few hours from Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, includes ice cream, milk, cocoa, syrup, espresso, ice and whipped cream. The Heredia iced coffee, named for the northeast Heredia province in Costa Rica, is made from espresso cubano, coffee liqueur, milk, freshly dripped coffee, cinnamon and raw sugar from Costa Rica’s locally grown sugar cane.

Café Britt also serves a variety of hot sandwiches such as the Tico with achiote roasted chicken, tomato, arugula and turrialba; or the Sunrise Quesadilla filled with cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon and green onions and tomato salsa; as well as whole seasonal fruit, tropical fruit smoothies and snacks including local banana bread.

“From the colourful oxcarts used to transport coffee in Costa Rica to the early railroads, the National Theatre made possible by the coffee industry and the modern coffee plantations today, coffee has been a huge and vibrant part of Costa Rican history and culture for many years,” says Robert Graney, director of food and beverage,Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica. “We are excited to open our new and lively Café Britt coffee house where Four Seasons guests can truly enjoy the fantastic coffee and flavour of Costa Rica.”

Coffee production began in Costa Rica around 1779 and the country began exporting coffee to nearby countries including Panama and Columbia in the 1820s. With the beginning of coffee exports to London, England via The Monarch ship in 1843, Costa Rican coffee became known around the world for its quality and taste. In 1897, the National Theatre opened in San Jose, Costa Rica with its famous décor and ceiling mural of the Allegory of Coffee and Bananas.

Café Britt was founded in 1985 as the first gourmet coffee maker in Costa Rica. Café Britt coffee has been served at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica since the Resort’s opening in 2004. In addition to coffee drinks, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica incorporates local coffee into many of the dishes served at its restaurants, such as the Costa Rican coffee-rubbed steaks served at Caracol steakhouse.
