Portugal’s olympic athletes make on-board Safety Video
Lisbon, Portugal, 2016-Jul-04 — /Travel PR News/ — TAP, the Portuguese Olympic Committee’s (POC) official carrier, has honoured the country’s athletes who are going to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games by making a new safety video that is going to be shown on the airline’s long-haul planes starting on 1 July.
In partnership with the POC, TAP invited some of the competitors who are to represent Portugal in the Games, to host the video that encourages passengers to follow the safety rules on the aircraft.
Nelson Évora, Telma Monteiro, Fernando Pimenta, Diogo Abreu, Fu Yu, João Silva, Rui Bragança, Rui Costa, Ana Rente and Luciana Diniz give all the instructions in this video that also includes a special guest appearance by Rosa Mota, the POC Vice-chair and Olympic Marathon Champion.
The new safety video presents some of the sports that Portugal is going to compete in and the scenes often feature the athletes’ own equipment to help illustrate the on-board procedures.
Athlete Nelson Évora said he had flown on TAP many times and always pays special attention to the safety video, which was why he liked this novel idea that “promotes safety in the cabin and also promotes the athletes who are going to fly the nation’s colours”.
“It was great fun, completely different from what we are used to doing. It’s rewarding for sports in Portugal”, added Fernando Pimenta, who has won a medal for Portugal in canoeing.
The new safety video wants to make the passengers more aware and to remember the safety questions, while also taking Portugal’s Olympic spirit around the world through the faces of these international athletes.
The video is released the year that TAP, the leading airline to Brazil, commemorates 50 years of flights to Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the 2016 Olympic Games.
