SAN DIEGO, 2014-5-29 — /Travel PR News/ — Robert H. Gleason has been reappointed Board Chair of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. The City Council unanimously approved his reappointment on May 21, 2014. Gleason was originally appointed to the Board by former San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders in 2009 and was named Board Chair in 2010.
“It is a pleasure and an honor to continue to serve the region in my role as Board Chair,” said Gleason. “The Airport Authority has accomplished a great deal over the past four years, including completion of The Green Build, on time and under budget, and bringing a number of new flights to San Diego. And we have much to look forward to on the horizon.”
Gleason is chief executive officer and president of Evans Hotels, which owns and operates The Lodge at Torrey Pines, the Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa and the Bahia Resort Hotel.
Gleason is a long-time San Diegan who has played a leadership role in many community agencies and organizations, primarily in the areas of the arts, electoral politics and civil rights. He is Chair of the City of San Diego’s Commission for Arts and Culture and is a trustee of the Francis Parker School. Gleason previously served as Chair of the San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community Center and the San Diego LGBT Community Leadership Council as well as national Vice Chair of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund.
Gleason received an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
