Tequila is a distillate from the municipality of Tequila in the State of Jalisco, Mexico. It is made from the fermentation and distillation like mezcal, with juice extracted from the agave, in particular blue agave(agave tequilana) with designation of origin in five states of Mexico.
Certainly the most well-known and representative drink of Mexico, tequila is exported all over the world. To be called tequila, the drink must be made in Mexico and contain at least 51 percent of sugars from the agave, although the purest tequilas contain 100 percent agave. In mixed tequilas, the agave is mixed with corn syrup or sugar cane syrup.
