The appointment aligns with Minor Hotels’ plan to open 50 new premium and luxury hotels in India over the next decade, following its 2024 debut of the Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur and recent signing of Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW DELHI, 2025-Apr-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Global hospitality powerhouse Minor Hotels, which operates over 560 properties across 58 countries, has named Shobhit Khattri as Associate Vice President of Development for India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. His appointment marks a strategic move to accelerate the group’s growth across South Asia, with a sharp focus on the Indian market.

Khattri, a seasoned hotel development expert with more than 17 years of experience, will be based in New Delhi and report directly to Omar Romero, Chief Development & Luxury Officer at Minor Hotels. In his role, he will lead the identification and execution of new development opportunities, from site selection to hotel launch, while ensuring that all projects align with the group’s brand standards and operational goals.

Prior to joining Minor Hotels, Khattri held pivotal development roles at The Indian Hotels Company Limited and IHG, where he contributed significantly to brand expansion across India, the Middle East, and Africa. He holds a Bachelor’s in English from Delhi University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the International Management Institute, Delhi.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shobhit at this exciting time in our regional expansion,” said Omar Romero. “His depth of market knowledge and track record in hotel development make him a valuable asset in realizing our growth vision in South Asia.”

Reflecting on his new role, Khattri said, “Joining Minor Hotels at this transformational moment is a true privilege. The group’s bold vision for India aligns perfectly with my own ambitions. I look forward to helping shape the next phase of its journey across India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.”

The appointment comes amid a significant growth phase for Minor Hotels in India. The group made its luxury debut in the country with the opening of Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur in November 2024 – a 150-key property known for its deep connection to Rajasthani art and heritage. The launch is the first step in Minor Hotels’ 10-year plan to open 50 new properties in India, focusing on the premium and luxury segments.

The group has also recently signed its first Avani-branded property in India – the Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort – further expanding its footprint in key leisure destinations. Minor Hotels will continue to grow its presence through hotel management agreements and plans to bring Anantara, Avani, and NH Collection to both established and emerging Indian markets, including tier-two and tier-three cities and airport hubs.
