Mark Kiehl Brings Broad Aviation Industry Experience to Silicon Valley’s Airport

San José, Calif., 2014-03-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Mark Kiehl will join Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) as Air Service Development Manager starting April 1, 2014.

Kiehl will manage SJC’s air service development program, to include attracting new and retaining existing domestic and international carriers, developing strategies for new routes and building strong working relationships with Silicon Valley business and community partners.

His broad aviation industry experience spans more than 30 years, and Kiehl most recently served as the Deputy Director, Aviation, Marketing and Development for Palm Springs International Airport since 2007. Here, he managed air service development and successfully recruited two new domestic airlines, leading to record levels of passengers, concessions and revenues in 2012 and 2013.

Kiehl’s additional experience includes 15 years as a consultant to airlines, airports and government and financial organizations. His career also has included managing daily operations and sales, pricing and yield management and domestic and international route planning for four airlines over a 15-year span.

“We are so pleased to welcome Mark to the airport team and the 360-degree perspective he brings in leading air service development programs for both airports and airlines. Mark’s past successes in growing airport passenger traffic and revenues and his industry relationships will be an important contribution to continued success for Silicon Valley’s airport,” said Director of Aviation Kim Becker Aguirre.

“Air service development is really economic development at its core, and Silicon Valley’s ‘branded business sector’ makes it a truly unique market,” said Kiehl. “After spending many years in the commercial aviation industry, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Mineta San José International Airport and its dynamic, global community.”

Kiehl received his MBA from University of St. Thomas based in St. Paul, Minnesota, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.
