Nairobi, 2014-6-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Kenya Airways’ Group Managing Director, Titus Naikuni, has been recognized for his contribution to the aviation industry in Africa.
Dr Naikuni was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Services to African Aviation Development during the recently concluded African Aviation Summit 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The summit that was held at Sheraton Hotel coincided with the 23rd annual Air Finance for Africa’ Conference & Exhibition.
The award was received on his behalf by Elizabeth Onunga, Kenya Airways’ Area Manager.
Speaking after learning of his recognition, Dr Naikuni said that the award was a great honour to him and the airline at large.
“I dedicate this award to colleagues at Kenya Airways and our valued customers, as well as our partners without whose contribution we would not be able to do all that we have over the years. We will continue to focus our efforts in consistently delivering world class service to our customers as we link Africa to the rest of the world,” he added.
Previously, Dr Naikuni has been recognized in a number of prestigious industry awards. Last year, he received the ‘Airline Business Award’ during the Airline Strategy Awards 2013, which recognizes an individual who has made a lasting strategic contribution to the air transport business.
Dr Naikuni has been at the helm of Kenya Airways since February 2003. During his tenure, Kenya Airways has recorded tremendous growth in revenue and passenger numbers, as well as massive expansion fleet and network of destinations.
The airline is in the process of expanding and modernizing its fleet. This year, it has received two Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the first of which was delivered on April 5, 2014; with the second on June 21, 2014.
