Kansas City International Airport Achieves Remarkable 17.5% Increase in Passenger Traffic in June 2023
Kansas City, MO, 2023-Jul-26 — /Travel PR News/ — The Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 1,093,679 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in June, a 17.5-percent increase from June 2022. Passenger boardings were up 17.4 percent, with a total of 541,297 boarded. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 2,736,320, up 20.3 percent. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 5,470,616, up 20.1 percent.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International were down 8.9 percent in June with a total of 19.9 million pounds handled. Year to date, 116.7 million pounds of air cargo has been handled, down 8.2 percent. Air freight handled at Kansas City International during June amounted to 19.4 million pounds, down 10.7 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is down 10.1 percent with a total of 112.9 million pounds handled. Air mail for June was up 278.2 percent from June 2022 with 539,507 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2023 is up 141.9 percent from 2022 with 3.8 million pounds handled.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for June 2023 was 155. Service was offered to 51 nonstop markets. There was an average of 43,060 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 11 daily departures for June.
