Kane Pirie, CEO of Travel Republic, Steps Down from ABTA Board

2012-10-31 — /travelprnews.com/ — ABTA – The Travel Association today announced that Kane Pirie, CEO of Travel Republic, has stepped down from the ABTA Board of Directors. Kane joined the ABTA Board in October 2010 as an appointed (non-elected) Director.

John McEwan, ABTA Chairman, said: “Kane has been a highly effective and well respected member of the ABTA Board in his two years with the Association.  He was appointed because of his outstanding commercial expertise and his knowledge of the online sector. This has been particularly valuable to ABTA as we move through a period of regulatory change. Travel Republic will continue to be an ABTA Member, and we look forward to working with Kane and his colleagues as we tackle important issues in Brussels and the UK.

I, along with the rest of the Board, would like to thank Kane for his very significant contributions and wish him all the best for the future.”

Kane Pirie was appointed CEO of Travel Republic in 2005.  Travel Republic was acquired by dnata (part of the Emirates group) in December 2011.
