Jet Airways operated Flight of Fantasy for underprivileged and those with special needs on children’s day

Mumbai, India, 2013-11-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — Jet Airways, India’s premier airline celebrated Children’s Day by operating a Flight of Fantasy S2 9805 in Mumbai for underprivileged and those with special needs. As part of its annual community service, Jet Airways gave over 125 children a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the “joy of flying” onboard a JetKonnect Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

The children were treated to over an hour of flying along the west coast of India, taking off from Mumbai’s domestic airport, Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) Through this unique initiative Jet Airways, attempts to open up the fascinating world of aviation to children from marginalized sections.

The Flight of Fantasy was operated in support of non-governmental organisations (NGO’s) Aseema, Muktangan, Karuna Sharan & Save the Children India, all of who are dedicated to the upliftment and education of children, vulnerable in our society. Corporate partners GE Volunteers joined hands with the airline to support this noble cause.

Ahead of the Flight of Fantasy, the Children’s Day fanfare commenced with a lively programme at the Domestic Departure Terminal, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The children were entertained with music, dance, and a variety of games with prizes galore. A special video screening on aviation informed the young guests on the workings of an airplane. The party zone Mumbai’s domestic terminal was adorned with colorful balloons, confetti and streamers to add to the celebration. Subsequently, guests including media persons checked-in in for the flight at the domestic terminal of CSIA. The flight S2 9805 took off from the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 1530 hrs and touched down at 1630 hours.

The party continued mid-air with Jet Airways cabin crew participating in the merriment onboard this unique flight to ensure that the day remained memorable and comfortable for the children.. The party venue at the departure terminal was courtesy MIAL, refreshments on board were provided by Oberoi Flight Services and fuel for the flight was courtesy Indian Oil Corporation. Route Navigation charges were waived off by GVK, while parking and landing charges were taken care of by Mumbai International Airport Private Limited.

Upon their return, the airlines’ little guests were gifted with specially designed hampers, to ensure that they took home memories to cherish forever.
