Invitation to fund-raise with carol singing at Shannon this Christmas

2012-11-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Shannon Airport has this week issued an open invitation for organisations to apply for one of five carol-singing fundraising slots at the airport terminal during the run-in to Christmas.

In its third successive year, the Shannon Airport Christmas Carol sessions will run from Tuesday, December 18th through to Saturday, December 22nd.

Organisations from local schools to charities have taken up on this opportunity over recent years to raise funds and, at the same time, spread the Christmas cheer during this most festive of weeks at the airport.

In addition to the monies collected from the public, Shannon Airport will also make a small donation to each of the successful applicants.

Said Director Shannon Mary Considine  “Our Christmas Carol sessions have been a real win-win at the airport over recent years.  The carol singing creates a real festive atmosphere at the airport, which passengers and their families/friends really appreciate, and it also enables these organisations to raise money in the process.

“We are spreading our invitation far and wide this year, with organisations from any walk of life – sporting, charity, educational, etc. – invited to apply but we would urge them to do so as soon as possible.”

Interested parties are requested to submit a formal application to Dorothy Quinn, c/o Operations Dept, Shannon Airport or by email Dorothy Quinn, outlining details of their group, their nominated charity/group and why they should be selected.

Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 23rd November 2012.  A decision on which groups are selected will be made by an airport committee, with the successful applicants being notified by Tuesday, December 4th.
