(PRESS RELEASE) Singapore, 2024-Sep-30 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individuals with mild intellectual disabilities by renewing its partnership with APSN for another three years. This collaboration continues to offer training, employment opportunities, and social activities for APSN students and trainees at all IHG hotels in Singapore, as well as its corporate office.

The renewal builds on an existing partnership, including philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteering efforts. IHG’s hotels will offer full-time positions and hands-on internships for APSN students, who will take on roles such as concierge, kitchen steward, housekeeper, and service staff. Additionally, IHG hosts social activities to engage with APSN students, providing valuable real-world work experience.

In conjunction with the partnership, IHG Singapore held its annual “Giving For Good” relay for the third year in a row. This 34-kilometer charity event, spanning 13 IHG hotels and its support center, raised funds for APSN as part of IHG’s global effort to give back to local communities. The initiative aligns with IHG’s “Journey To Tomorrow” 10-year plan, which aims to improve the lives of 30 million people by 2030.

Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting: “IHG is committed to fostering an inclusive culture that aligns with Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan 2030. We are proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with organizations like APSN and are dedicated to continuing our mission of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplaces.”

Royce Seah, Chairman of APSN Ltd, expressed gratitude for IHG’s continued support: “Our collaboration with IHG has had a profound impact on our students, helping to provide meaningful employment opportunities and guiding them towards a more inclusive society. We look forward to continuing our work together.”

IHG’s long-standing commitment to inclusivity began in 1989 when Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre became one of the first in Singapore to hire individuals with disabilities. Today, 5% of IHG’s workforce in Singapore is comprised of people with disabilities, and the company remains committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all.

Key Highlights:

  • 5% of IHG’s full-time workforce in Singapore are individuals with disabilities.
  • Over 1,600 colleagues across 13 IHG hotels in Singapore.
  • More than 2,500 hours dedicated to community partnerships in Singapore in 2023.

IHG’s partnership with APSN underscores its ongoing dedication to making a positive impact on both the local community and the global travel industry.
