IHG Hotels & Resorts and APSN Renew Partnership to Support Inclusive Employment and Training Programs in Singapore

(IN SHORT) IHG Hotels & Resorts has renewed its strategic partnership with APSN, a social service agency for individuals with mild intellectual disabilities, through a new three-year agreement. This partnership will continue to provide employment opportunities, on-the-job training, and internships for APSN students across IHG hotels in Singapore. The initiative supports IHG’s long-term commitment to inclusivity and aligns with Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan 2030. IHG, which has championed inclusive hiring for over 30 years, will continue to foster workplace diversity, with 5% of its workforce in Singapore consisting of people with disabilities.

(PRESS RELEASE) Singapore , 2024-Oct-2 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts has renewed its strategic partnership with APSN (Association for Persons with Special Needs) through a new three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement strengthens the long-standing collaboration aimed at offering employment opportunities, internships, and training programs for APSN students and trainees across all IHG hotels and offices in Singapore.

The renewed MOU marks the second consecutive agreement between the two organizations, focused on providing comprehensive support through employment, philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteering initiatives. As part of this partnership, APSN students are given the chance to participate in on-the-job training, internships, and full-time employment, taking up various roles such as concierge, housekeeping, and kitchen staff. IHG hotels in Singapore will continue to integrate APSN students into their operations, providing them with valuable work experience while fostering an inclusive culture.

This partnership renewal follows IHG’s successful annual “Giving For Good” relay, a fundraising initiative that spans all 13 IHG hotels in Singapore. The 34-kilometer relay has raised significant funds for APSN over the past three years and aligns with IHG’s global “Journey to Tomorrow” plan, a 10-year commitment aimed at improving the lives of 30 million people by 2030.

Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for East Asia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting how IHG has championed inclusive employment for more than 30 years. “Our partnership with APSN not only supports Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan 2030, but also strengthens our own workplace culture by embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are committed to making a lasting impact on the communities we serve.”

Royce Seah, Chairman of APSN Ltd., praised the collaboration, highlighting the opportunities it has created for individuals with special needs. “IHG has been a steadfast partner, opening doors and providing life-changing opportunities for our students and trainees. Together, we are working towards a truly inclusive society.”

With over 1,600 employees across 13 hotels in Singapore, IHG remains committed to building an inclusive workplace. Currently, 5% of IHG’s workforce in Singapore consists of individuals with disabilities, making the organization a leader in inclusive hiring within the region.
