Iberia Strengthens International Connectivity with Record Summer Programme and New Routes to North America and Europe

(IN SHORT) Iberia has announced its largest-ever summer schedule, offering more than 21.4 million seats across its global network. The expansion includes significant capacity growth in North America and Latin America, as well as new routes to Toronto, Monterrey, Bucharest, and Tivat. The airline is also increasing frequencies on key routes, particularly in the United States and South America, while strengthening its European leisure network. Supported by new aircraft and part of its Flight Plan 2030 strategy, the programme reflects Iberia’s focus on expanding connectivity and meeting growing travel demand.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, Spain, 2026-Mar-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Iberia has unveiled its most extensive summer schedule to date, placing more than 21.4 million seats on sale for the upcoming season starting on 29 March 2026. The expanded programme reflects broad-based growth across the airline’s network, with particularly strong increases on long-haul routes to North America and Latin America, alongside continued expansion in Europe.

Within Spain and the wider European market, Iberia will offer close to 16 million seats, maintaining its strong presence across short- and medium-haul routes. The network will be enhanced by the addition of two new European destinations, Bucharest and Tivat in Montenegro, further strengthening connectivity across the region.

The most significant growth is concentrated in North America, where capacity to the United States and Canada will rise by over 19%, reaching more than 1.28 million seats. A key highlight is the introduction of Toronto as a new destination, with services from Madrid scheduled to begin on 13 June with five weekly flights. In the United States, the airline is expanding its operations in core markets, including New York, where the addition of a new daily service to Newark will complement existing flights to JFK, bringing total frequencies between Madrid and New York to three per day.

Additional North American routes will continue to be served with strong frequency, including Boston and Miami with two daily flights, and daily services to Dallas, Chicago, and Washington. Seasonal adjustments will see Los Angeles operating up to daily flights during peak summer months, while San Francisco will be served three times per week. Orlando, launched in late 2025, will see its first full summer season with regular service.

Latin America remains a central pillar of Iberia’s network, with capacity set to exceed 3.35 million seats, representing a 7.6% increase compared to the previous summer. Growth will be supported by new routes to Recife and Fortaleza in Brazil and Monterrey in Mexico, with the latter launching on 2 June with three weekly flights. Buenos Aires will experience a further increase in frequencies, reaching up to 23 weekly services during peak months, marking the airline’s first long-haul destination to exceed three daily flights.

Other markets across the region will also see expanded capacity, including Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Puerto Rico, reflecting sustained demand and Iberia’s leading role in connecting Latin America with Europe.

Beyond these regions, the airline is also adding nearly 800,000 additional seats across its Africa and Asia network, completing one of the most ambitious summer programmes in its history. The expansion is supported by the introduction of new long-haul aircraft, including the A321XLR and A350-900, which enhance efficiency and enable greater network flexibility.

In Europe, Iberia will continue to build on its seasonal leisure routes, with services to destinations in Croatia, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Albania, and Slovenia. Popular destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Zagreb will return with increased frequencies, while routes to Mediterranean islands including Mykonos, Santorini, Catania, and Sardinia will operate throughout the peak travel season. Additional capacity increases are also planned for key cities such as Athens, Milan, and Nice.

This expanded programme forms part of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030, which aims to strengthen the airline’s global network, increase capacity, and support long-term growth across key markets.
