Helsinki Airport won the first prize in an international social media competition

Finavia’s Helsinki Airport has won first prize in an international social media competition. The awards were distributed by Simpliflying, based in Singapore, which specialises in social media innovation and public participation.

2012-10-8 — /travelprnews.com/ — The jury commended Helsinki Airport’s creative touch in social media.

The hugely popular Quality Hunters campaign was mentioned as an example of the airport’s activity. Through the campaign, the airport has become a smoother, even more pleasant pit stop. Based on ideas gathered from passengers through social media, four galleries, the Suvanto workstations and a Book Swap station have been set up at Helsinki Airport.

“At its best, social media is a natural way of serving customers and of compiling their ideas on airport services. The prize shows that Finavia appreciates passenger ideas for improving enjoyable and comfortable travels. We will continue this approach,” says Markus Haapamäki, Communications Specialist at Finavia.

Finavia is actively involved in Twitter and Facebook. Video content from Finavia airports is available on YouTube. The Book Swap station, completed in the spring, was designed in the photo sharing service Pinterest, through which the public got the opportunity to provide ideas for the location’s interior decoration and the rules of book swap.
