Heathrow Airport Transforms into a Christmas Wonderland for Travelers

(PRESS RELEASE) London, UK, 2023-Dec-11 — /Travel PR News/ — Christmas has landed at Heathrow this week as it announces the arrival of its magical festivities, including live ballet and choir performances, brand-new Christmas decorations, visits from Santa himself, and hundreds of prizes to be won by passengers across the airport.
As passengers start to travel to reunite with friends and family this holiday season, here are the top 10 things to look out for when arriving or departing from Heathrow this December.
- Dance lovers are in for a treat, as professional ballet dancers will be performing a specially choreographed dance for passengers in Heathrow Arrivals throughout December. Titled ‘The Reunion’, the dance celebrates festive reunions at Heathrow. Created by award-winning choreographer Ruth Brill, the dance has 239 individual moves, representing the number of destinations travellers can fly to from Heathrow.
- Brand-new Christmas decorations have been installed across the airport, including 22 ft green and purple Christmas trees, giant glowing presents and Christmas wreaths hung around the terminals. There are a total of 47 Christmas trees across terminal 2, 3, 4 and 5. Heathrow has also partnered with Christian Dior for the first time. Every terminal has been adorned with Dior’s custom-designed holiday decorations. Look out for the 22ft golden Christmas tree in Terminal 5, you can’t miss it! Dior colleagues will be offering engraving services to add a special touch to their holiday gift selections.
- Heathrow has partnered with Mr. Men Little Miss to create a Christmas themed mobile game to entertain young travellers at the airport over the festive period. The game features Mr. Adventure and Little Miss Explorer, characters created exclusively for Heathrow. Passengers can easily access the game by scanning one of the QR codes throughout the airport.
- Listen out for the all-female singing group, the ‘Jingle Belles’, who will be performing Christmas crackers in Terminal 2 on 22nd December, Terminal 3 on 20th December and Terminal 4 on 19th December.
- Still in need of some festive cheer? Local choirs will be on hand to spread a little Christmas joy for passengers as they travel through all four terminals. Between the 19th and 22nd, there is also a special brass quintet alternating across the terminals to blast out joyful tunes and guarantee travellers get into the Christmas spirit.
- Make little ones’ dreams come true with visits from Santa, his elves and a magical polar bear from the North Pole. They will be roaming the terminals for 20 days in December, spreading Christmas magic to each one.
- The best memories start at Heathrow, and this year passengers can capture their memories via a caricaturist who will be roaming the terminals. Heathrow is also offering Christmas cards to travellers with a polaroid print out.
- Keep kids entertained this Christmas holiday by looking out for Heathrow’s free arts and crafts trolleys, with colleagues handing out children’s colouring packs and free chocolates.
- Make gifts extra special this year with Heathrow’s complimentary gift-wrapping service, available in all terminals, including personalised ribbon printing.
- Christmas is about giving, so this year, Heathrow is giving passengers the chance to win instant prizes in all terminals every day with brand-new claw machines. There is an incredible range of products from InMotion, Case Luggage, World Duty Free and Discover London and many more. Plus, all passengers can enter the draw to win a £7500 voucher from Watches of Switzerland.
Heathrow’s top tip for a smooth Christmas getaway is to pack Christmas luggage with care. To avoid any delays at security, remember to pack liquids, creams, gels, pastes and aerosols in separate transparent, resealable bags that can easily be removed from hand baggage. And remember, no Christmas crackers! Whilst travellers are keen to get going on their festive getaways, Heathrow recommends that passengers arrive at the airport no more than two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul flights.
