Greater Toronto Airports Authority and The City of Mississauga announce new collaboration

Agreement between Canada’s largest airport and sixth-largest city is a positive step toward mutual development and success, benefitting residents, businesses and passengers

TORONTO, ONTARIO, 2019-Dec-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Today (December 17, 2019), the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) and City of Mississauga entered a new era of cooperation. Under the leadership of Mayor Bonnie Crombie, City Council, GTAA President and CEO Howard Eng and the GTAA Board, the Municipal Authority Agreement has been finalized. This new agreement is the first of its kind and will create opportunities to better align Toronto Pearson’s development and the overall planning objectives of the City of Mississauga.

The Municipal Authority Agreement comes into immediate effect and covers several areas of mutual interest for the GTAA and City of Mississauga. The Agreement includes clarification about on and off-airport developments, enhanced lines of communication and methods of co-operation between the two organizations, as well as a joint program to promote the aerospace sector in Southern Ontario.

“This agreement signals a new era in our City’s relationship with Toronto Pearson International Airport. Mississauga owes a good deal of our economic success to the airport and its ability to attract people and businesses from around the world.  This agreement will give us the opportunity to better leverage each other’s strengths, be more intentional in our collaboration and unlock the true potential of the airport in way that has never been done before,” said Mayor Crombie.
