Langkawi’s award-winning restaurant debuts reimagined new dining destination, complete with new design, menu and interactive culinary experiences
Langkawi, Malaysia, 2018-Dec-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, the award-winning Malaysian beach resort nestled adjacent to a UNESCO World Geopark along the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea, invites guests to ring in the holiday season with the debut of the Resort’s all-new, reimagined Ikan Ikan restaurant. Ideally located on a pristine white-sand beach, in a traditional Malaysian-style open-air pavilion, Ikan Ikan continues to indulge epicureans with genuine craftsmanship and an authentic new dining concept, capturing a distinct sense of place.
Paying homage to the region’s rich customs and practices, Ikan Ikan – meaning “fish” in Malay – features authentic Malaysian cuisine, true to its origins, and prepared using centuries-old rural-village recipes and techniques. With an emphasis on sustainable fare and an overall interactive experience, Ikan Ikan features “ocean-to-table” cuisine. Seafood is selected directly from the fisherman on the beach featuring a bounty of the day’s fresh catch from celebrated local fisherman, and prepared by Ikan Ikan’s master chefs at the outdoor grill stations.
“Ikan Ikan’s exciting new design and menu captures the vibrant flavours, authenticity and traditions of Malaysia’s rich culture, combined with offering the island’s most coveted setting directly on the beach,” says David Macklin, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Langkawi. “Guests have the unique opportunity to engage with our team of master chefs, along with our skilled fisherman, creating a truly memorable dining experience and unlike any other on Langkawi.”
Led by Executive Chef Sandeep Bhagwat, Ikan Ikan features an authentic menu featuring traditional Malaysian cuisine. Signature dishes include local favourites sambal sotong and ikan kerapu asam pedas offering the freshest of catch from the Andaman Sea.
Inspired by its unique setting where the ocean meets the jungle adjacent to a UNESCO Geopark, the architectural and design elements seamlessly blend the natural wonderland of its surroundings. The open-air wood pavilion is a nod to traditional Malaysian architecture and complements the jungle-like backdrop while the interior design echoes the white-sand beaches, which lay its doorstep. The striking contrast of light to dark, ocean to jungle, creates a habitually chic unexpected setting to gather with family and friends. For a truly private and customised evening, Ikan Ikan features a 16-seat private dining room, along with authentic beach cabanas for toes-in-the sand dining.
As the Resort’s signature restaurant, Ikan Ikan is open each evening for dinner and offers a unique and one-of-a-kind cooking school experience during the day. For reservations, visit the Resort’s website.
