Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva launches masterclass with leading Swiss floral stylist Serge Marzetta

The masterclass sheds light on the fragrant world of flower arranging, teaching participants how to effortlessly put together the perfect bouquet

Geneva, Switzerland, 2022-Jun-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva has launched a masterclass to discover the art of floristry and create stunning floral arrangements. Participants will learn insider techniques to style gorgeous bouquets, learning which colours and varieties work best to create the perfect floral sculpture. Taking place on June 23, 2022, the masterclass is led by leading Swiss floral stylist Serge Marzetta.

Born in Neuchatel northeast of Geneva, Serge studied landscape horticulture and, at the start of his career, worked closely with Thérèse Grübert, the country’s celebrated florist crowned Worldwide Florist Champion in 1970. Serge is today one of the many talents behind Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, creating gorgeous displays that beautifully complement the interiors of the Hotel. Serge’s compositions burst with creativity, drawing inspiration from travel, fashion, art, jewellery and gastronomy.

Suitable for both budding and advanced florists, the masterclass is perfect for those wishing to learn how to prepare and arrange bouquets for every occasion. “Participants will learn how to play with textures, use greenery for contrast, and give life to each flower. Each composition is entirely unique, transferring a very personal message,” explains Serge. “As a florist, I am lucky to always work with feelings. Whether celebrating a birth or someone’s life, flowers are exceptionally rich in emotions.”

Serge prides himself on sourcing flowers and plants from small, local producers, while also looking further afield to northern Italy and France. He works closely with the seasons, taking a sustainable approach to floristry. Summer, for example, sees him use sunflowers, while in spring, roses, peonies, hydrangeas and fleur-de-lys are among his favourites.

The masterclass allows guests to take their flower arranging skills to the next level, building on their imagination to give life to bunches of wonderful seasonal blooms designed with thought and creativity. At the beginning of the course, participants are provided with a selection of flowers, learning how to care and condition them to make them ready for use. They will discover how best to clean the flowers, strip the leaves, and trim the stems before constructing their bouquet. Serge will also teach participants how best to display their arrangement in a vase, working on balance, unity and harmony. With a maximum of 12 participants, the class size is deliberately kept small to provide supportive learning and one-to-one support.

Serge will equip participants with the key skills used in floristry, building their confidence and providing practical guidance on the art of floristry. He will closely guide participants, sharing his top tips and suggestions on what makes a beautiful floral arrangement, as well as breaking down the techniques needed to create stunning displays. “Each participant will be able to let his or her creativity shine. The final bouquet will reflect the individual’s character and emotions,” reveals Serge.

The masterclass will take place in the first-floor Salon Petit Mont Blanc, which offers wonderful views of Lake Geneva and the Jet d’Eau, an impressive fountain that is one of the city’s landmarks. At the end of the class, a selection of canapés and champagne can be enjoyed in the salon or on the balcony, offering participants the chance to soak up magnificent views while conversing with Serge.

The Flowers & Bubbles masterclass on June 23, 2022 is priced at CHF 300 per person.
