Four new routes out of Copenhagen

2013-01-08 — /travelprnews.com/ — Swedish airline Nordic Air Sweden is launching four routes out of Copenhagen at the end of February. The airline will primarily be operating a daily flight to Umeaa in northern Sweden, along with flights to destinations as different as Skopje, Amman and Beirut.

On 28 February, Nordic Air Sweden will begin daily service between Copenhagen and Umeaa, the airline’s home base. The Swedish airline will also be operating two weekly frequencies between Copenhagen and Skopje in Macedonia, and one weekly frequency each to Amman in Jordan and Beirut in Lebanon.

“Nordic Air Sweden has chosen four exciting new destinations. We will have daily flights to northern Sweden, flights to three interesting destinations in southern Europe and the Middle East, and – more importantly – flights to destinations that have been unserved until now. This is how Nordic Air Sweden is helping strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s route network,” said Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development for Copenhagen Airport.

German cars in the cold Swedish winter
The new service to Umeaa will target both Danish and Swedish business and leisure travellers, and it is also worth noting that there will also be service from Umeaa to the town of Arvidsjaur in the northernmost part of Sweden. This will provide access to interesting ski resorts; a number of German car makers also winter test their cars in the area as well.

The routes to Skopje, Amman and Beirut target emigrant passenger groups who want connections between Scandinavia and Macedonia, Jordan and Lebanon.

Copenhagen fits best
Copenhagen Airport was in tough competition with Stockholm for the new routes: at Nordic Air Sweden, there was no doubt that Copenhagen is the choice that would give passengers the most and best options.

“We chose Copenhagen Airport because it matches our business philosophy of creating the best connections from Europe and the rest of the world to Lapland and Umeaa,” said Stig-Erik Dahlberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-owner of Nordic Air Sweden.

A new airline
Nordic Air Sweden is a newly started scheduled airline that will need to build relations with other airlines to make its passenger base as large as possible.

“Naturally, we will focus on ensuring that Nordic Air Sweden gets off to a good start in Copenhagen, so we will be helping them establish partnership agreements with other airlines, which will benefit our transfer product and also strengthen Nordic Air Sweden’s product,” said Ole Wieth Christensen.
