CHICAGO, 2014-8-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Cathay Pacific Airways has added three weekly passenger flights to Hong Kong from Chicago O’Hare International Airport bringing the total to 10 flights per week.
The new flights between O’Hare and Cathay’s hub Hong Kong International Airport will offer much improved connections to Cathay’s Asia network, including over 22 destinations in mainland China and six in India. Cathay’s Chicago passenger service uses a B777-300ER with 340 seats in Business, Premium Economy and Economy classes.
“On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, I want to thank Cathay Pacific Airways for continuing to grow service between Chicago and its hub in Hong Kong,” said Rosemarie S. Andolino, Commissioner, Chicago Department of Aviation. “Cathay’s award-winning passenger service, which launched at O’Hare in September 2011, brings an estimated $200 million a year in economic activity to our region.”
In addition to passenger service, Cathay Pacific also has longstanding B747 widebody freighter service to Chicago, including an around-the-world service. Cathay Pacific cargo volumes at ORD in 2013 increased year-over-year compared to 2012, and are expected to increase even further in 2014.
Cathay Pacific Airways was recently named “World’s Best Airline” in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards. The carrier also took the title in 2003, 2005 and 2009. Cathay Pacific flies to 189 destinations in 47 countries and territories.
