2013-03-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — On the sidelines of its’ participation at Routes Asia 2013 in India, a delegation from Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) met a number of senior officials from internationally renowned aviation companies where the assets of Bahrain’s aviation sector were showcased.
Bahrain International Airport (BIA) caters for 38 international airlines, utilising the country’s strategic location in the Arabian Gulf and linking between the East and the West. Mr. Mohammed Khalil, Vice President of Commercial and Marketing at BAC commented on the visit and confirmed the importance of Asian markets to the local aviation industry. The average number of passengers passing through BIA from and to 51 destinations reaches up to 8 million a year, whereas 2 million of those are traveling from and to Asian countries.
The event was an ideal networking platform for us. We have met representatives from international airlines, where we delivered a full brief about BIA services provided for airlines and passengers alike. The latest statistics on our key markets as well as destinations served were also presented, which eventually provided the participations with a full picture about the business and investment opportunities available for them in Bahrain. Mr. Mohammed added.
Routes Asia 2013 is a prominent aviation event that brings together more than 500 key players in the airline and airport industry from Asia and also from Europe for strategic networking on air service development.
Under the wise leadership of the government of Bahrain, BAC plays a leading role in enhancing the Kingdom’s aviation capabilities and positioning BIA as a major contributor to the local economy in line with Vision 2030. In its’ operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s infrastructure and services to cater for the emerging aviation sector and the growing number of passengers.
