Austrian Airlines reports 1.6 percent increase in passenger volume in January 2016 vs. same month last year

VIENNA, Austria, 2016-Feb-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Austrian Airlines carried 617,000 passengers in January 2016, comprising a rise of 1.6 percent from the prior-year month. The flight offering as measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was increased by 7.1 percent to 1.6 billion. In particular, this raise reflects the launch of flight service to new long-haul tourist destinations such as Miami, Colombo and Mauritius. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) rose by 4.7 percent to 1.1 billion. Capacity utilization of the flights (passenger load factor) was at an average of 70.4 percent, a slight decline of 1.6 percentage points compared to January 2015. The number of flights was increased in January 2016 by 1.7 percent to 9,052 flights.
