(NEWS) BERLIN, Germany, 2025-Dec-3 — /Travel PR News/ — Design Hotels is marking a milestone year in Asia Pacific, announcing the addition of more than 14 new properties across the region—its strongest regional growth to date, accounting for 28% of the brand’s global portfolio expansion in 2025. The surge highlights APAC’s growing influence in the global hospitality landscape as independent hoteliers increasingly seek platforms that prioritize design, culture and community-centered travel. The brand’s expansion spans six countries—Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and a return to India—positioning the region as a key driver of new hotel concepts blending contemporary aesthetics with strong local identity.
According to Stijn Oyen, Managing Director at Design Hotels, the rapid growth reflects both the region’s importance and the creativity of its hoteliers. The new portfolio additions include a range of distinctive stays, from nature-led escapes in remote landscapes to cultural retreats in historic towns and bold urban concepts in major cities. Notable properties include The ArcadiaPlace at Lugu Lake in China, designed around the traditions of the local Mosuo people; Public House Bangkok, a modern reinterpretation of a British gentleman’s club; Yoruya in Kurashiki, Japan, showcasing Edo-period townhouse design; ELSE Kuala Lumpur, a restored 1930s heritage building; Magia de Uma in Canggu, Bali, offering an intimate experience above the rice paddies; and Hotel Irada in Pune, India, set on the expansive grounds of a working winery.
The broader global portfolio has grown 15% over the past year, with new member properties added across EMEA, the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America, further expanding the brand’s reach into destinations such as Miami, the Dominican Republic and Valle de Guadalupe. As membership increases, more hotels are tapping into the brand’s suite of services—from digital marketing and PR support to content creation and access to Marriott Bonvoy’s international network.
The company’s expansion coincides with its move to a new headquarters in Berlin. Designed by the RHO studio, the space offers panoramic city views and serves as a creative hub for the community-driven brand. With its growing global footprint and a strengthened presence in one of hospitality’s most dynamic regions, Design Hotels continues to position itself at the forefront of design-focused, experience-led travel.
