Amadeus Integrates IATA CO2 Connect Data to Empower Sustainable Travel Choices

(IN SHORT) IATA and Amadeus have partnered to integrate flight-specific emissions data from IATA CO2 Connect into the Amadeus Travel Platform. This collaboration will allow travelers to access accurate emissions data at the point of booking, helping them make informed decisions while supporting airlines’ progress toward net zero emissions by 2050. The recent ISO 14083 assurance of IATA CO2 Connect ensures the reliability of this data, while the program’s expanding participation from global airlines further enhances the transparency of emissions reporting.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW DELHI, 2025-Jun-4 — /Travel PR News/ — The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Amadeus have announced the integration of flight-specific emissions data from IATA CO2 Connect into the Amadeus Travel Platform. This collaboration enables airlines, travel agents, corporate travel managers, and online platforms to provide travelers with accurate and trusted emissions data at the point of booking, helping passengers make more environmentally conscious travel decisions.

IATA CO2 Connect uses real operational data from over 70 airlines, including aircraft-specific fuel consumption, calculated using a globally standardized methodology. This data will be integrated into the Amadeus platform, offering travelers transparent emissions information directly linked to the flights they book.

Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, commented, “Our partnership with Amadeus addresses growing traveler demand for transparency as airlines work toward net zero carbon emissions by 2050. IATA surveys show that nearly 90% of passengers expect carbon emissions data when booking flights, but many travelers find that the data they receive is inconsistent. By making IATA CO2 Connect data available through the Amadeus platform, we can help travelers make more informed choices based on accurate emissions information.”

ISO 14083 Assurance: Ensuring Accuracy in Emissions Data

IATA CO2 Connect recently received ISO 14083 assurance, aligning its emissions calculator with the global standard for collecting and reporting greenhouse gas data across the transport and logistics sectors. This ISO standard is expected to play a crucial role in the EU’s upcoming Count Emissions regulatory proposal, which will define emissions calculations for all transport modes in Europe.

Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel at Amadeus, added, “Travelers are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their flight choices. This is not just a priority for personal travelers, but also for corporations that must track emissions and comply with regulations. By integrating IATA CO2 Connect into the Amadeus Travel Platform, we can offer our customers emissions data that enables them to help travelers make more informed decisions.”

Expanding Participation in IATA CO2 Connect

The IATA CO2 Connect program continues to grow, with airlines such as Air India, Thai Airways, Atlas Air, Batik Air Malaysia, Batik Air Indonesia, Lion Air, and Thai Lion joining the program this week. With the addition of these airlines, the total number of participating airlines has reached 70, putting the program on track to sign 100 airlines by the end of 2025.
